LUGER SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm. S# 4375d. Bbl. 3 15/16". P.08 Luger semi-automatic pistol mfg. by Mauser in 1938. The bbl. extension is marked with the 4-digit year of mfg. "1938" over the top of the chamber, with x2 Mauser Eagle/63 proofs and a droop eagle firing proof marked on the right (firing proof repeated on right side of bbl. and left side of breechblock. Toggle is marked with Mauser's "S/42" mfg. code. Metal components exhibit a salt blue finish overall. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Standard dovetailed blade front sight and fixed V-notch rear sight. All serialized parts are matching, to include the grips. MAGS: x1 matching blued steel 8-rd. with aluminum plug. UNATTACHED ACCESSORIES: black leather holster mfg. by Frost & Jamnel, marked "FROST & JAMNEL/ BRESLAU/ 1938" above an illegible Eagle/WaA proof, followed by "3406". Holster exhibits a layer of apparent period applied lacquer overall. CONDITION: metal components retain large amounts to the majority of their original salt blue finish, exhibiting scattered spots and patches of oxidative finish loss, patches and areas of wear and thinning that are fading to gray patina (most notably on the bbl. and grip straps), as well as some superficial handling marks and spots of light pitting overall. Bore is bright, exhibiting a consistent scattering of mild pitting, while retaining well defined rifling throughout. Proper manual mechanics. Grips show mild smoothing and a few superficial nicks to the diamonds, but otherwise remain sound. Holster remains malleable, exhibiting some age related cracking and spots of minor crazing overall. Closure flap strap exhibits consistent mild to moderate cracking. Loading tool closure flap has torn free from its stitching on the right side. (26-46/MLW). CURIO. $1,200-1,400.
